Once Respected News Anchors Who Are Actually Terrible People

News anchors are great, in theory. We rely on them to help us understand what’s
going on in the world. We watch them head into hurricanes and war
zones, do things we as viewers could never do, all in the name of information. But despite being champions of information,
news anchors have secrets too, and some of them have hid just how terrible they really
are. From accusations of inappropriate behavior
to bullying guests and outright bigotry, here are a few news anchors who are actually pretty
terrible people. For decades, Matt Lauer was the likable face of the wildly popular Today show. He was the guy who could keep you interested
in the news, even when you hadn’t had your coffee yet. But then the world learned about his off-the-air
behavior. According to Variety, many young staffers
were called to his hotel room late at night and propositioned. He’d even do it at work. His desk was one of several in the building
that had a button that allowed you to lock the door without getting up, and he would
allegedly use it to trap women in his office. Once the complaints became public, Lauer was
fired. The harassment accusations that tore through newsrooms in 2017 and 2018 brought down seemingly
untouchable men. Charlie Rose had 45 years of journalistic
experience, and roles on 60 Minutes, CBS This Morning, and his own prestigious show. But in 2017, eight women told the Washington
Post that Rose crossed the line, with accusations including groping, nudity, and lewd phone
calls. Then in 2018, 27 more women came forward for
another Washington Post story. “There is no excuse for this alleged behavior. It is systematic, and pervasive.” How did Rose take it? He now reportedly wants to have a TV show
interviewing other men accused of similar crimes. Legendary anchor Tom Brokaw was the face of NBC Nightly News for 22 years, until accusations
against him dating back two decades surfaced in 2018. According to reports of an incident occurring
during the 1990s, Brokaw reportedly asked a correspondent to come to his hotel room
in the middle of the night. When she refused, he allegedly then went to
her room and forcibly kissed her as she tried to break free. Another woman alleged that Brokaw offered
her help with her job, but made clear there would be physical favors involved. Brokaw denied the allegations and a letter
was published in April 2018, signed by over 115 female colleagues of his saying:
“We know him to be a man of tremendous decency and integrity.” The problem was some of women reportedly felt
forced into signing. One source told Page Six:
“We had no choice, particularly the lower level staffers. The letter was being handed around the office
and the unspoken threat was that if your name was not on it, there would be some repercussion
down the road.” Bill O’Reilly “Hi I’m Bill O’Reilly reporting from Washington.” Regardless of whether you share political
views with Bill O’Reilly, The O’Reilly Factor was unbelievably popular. But O’Reilly is, perhaps unsurprisingly, a
big ball of anger. This was his shtick when he was on Fox, but
it wasn’t just an act, as evidenced by his Inside Edition meltdown years earlier. “Do it live! WE’LL DO IT LIVE, F—- IT! DO IT LIVE! I’ll write it and we’ll do it live!” And like many other newsmen, O’Reilly is accused
of being a serial harasser as well. According to the New York Times, he would
get close to women who worked with him or came on his show, often offering to help them
with their careers. Then he crossed the line. In the five lawsuits he settled for $13 million
total, accusations included lewd comments, unwanted flirtation and other advances, as
well as verbal abuse. He finally lost his Fox job after advertisers
started fleeing. It might be hard to imagine, but there was a time when Geraldo Rivera was a respected
newsman. These days, that isn’t what he’s known for. Rivera and one of his producers were accused
in 1991 of assaulting Bette Midler before an interview in the 1970s. “They broke two poppers and pushed them under
my nose, and proceeded to grope me.” As more and more harassment allegations came
to light in 2017, Rivera tweeted out that maybe the women involved were just confused. After all, news is a “flirty” business and
maybe they were “criminalizing courtship.” He later backpedalled, but come on Geraldo. Seriously?. Nancy Grace It’s not every news anchor who has a section
on “controversies” that takes up half of their Wikipedia page. But Nancy Grace is not every news anchor. She once reported on true crime and had a
bit of a problem of assuming absolutely everyone was guilty. Rushing to judgment means she often gets things
wrong. She was humiliated when the Duke lacrosse
team was acquitted of rape charges and was wrong about who kidnapped Elizabeth Smart. “You were afraid, I assume.” ‘Yeah” But perhaps the biggest stain on her reputation
her dealings with Melinda Duckett. The 21-year-old mother came on Grace’s show
just two weeks after her 2-year-old son had been kidnapped. Grace automatically assumed she was guilty
and berated her with aggressive questions for 20 minutes. The next day Duckett shot herself. Grace did not feel the least bit bad about
what she did. “To suggest that a 15-20 minute interview
caused someone to commit suicide I feel is focusing on the wrong thing.” Grace even went so far as saying it was guilt,
and not the interview, that drove Duckett to take her own life. After being with CNN for six years, Rick Sanchez derailed his career when he made bigoted remarks
on the radio while going after Jon Stewart, after Stewart made fun of him on The Daily
Show. Sanchez said the comedian was just bigoted
against “everybody else who isn’t like him.” Then it got worse. When the radio show host pointed out that
Stewart was part of a minority group since he is Jewish, Sanchez went all in, denying
Jewish people are a minority group. “A lot of People who run all the other networks
are a lot like Stewart, and to imply that somehow they the people in this country that
are Jewish are an oppressed minority? …Yeah.” It unsurprisingly didn’t go over well, and
Sanchez was fired from his show. Thanks for watching! Click the Grunge icon to subscribe to our

  3. OMG! These guys are all acting like aging men. As they grow older and more arrogant they expect everyone to cater them. As their natural sex appeal and drive starts to go, they get more and more like “dirty old men”.

  4. All his so called friends must have known he was up to no good. What an embarrassment to NBC. It’s good he got his comeuppance.

  5. Typical behavior of the “elites”, not at all surprising. Gotta be very hard up for a feel to grope Bette!

  6. I'm 65 most of these anchors i had no idea they were a holes, Nancy Grace no brainer, some you can just tell, some i couldn't stand in the first place!!

  7. I know they were all bad and I'm upset with Bill O'Reilly but one thing Bill O'Reilly did the others never did. Is the Portage troops and his books the money went to Wounded Warriors and other notable causes. Now what did Rachel Maddow I'll do besides look like Pee Wee Herman and I just wonder if she has hair under her armpits.

  8. When you make someone kill commit suicide because, you think that person is guilty. And you have no remorse this makes you a horrible person.

  9. What? No locks on the doors? No mind of your own? If you know that someone has a sexual problem, why do you put yourself in the wrong office? Know what I mean? Oh well. What can we do?

  10. This has nothing to do with the topic. I disliked listening to Tom Brokaw because of his speech defect. I don't understand how somebody who makes their living-and a very good one-gets hired for this job. May be a nice person; I don't know but I stopped watching him. I was a speech therapist.

  11. Withholding evidence from the defense during trial is inexcusable and she did that very thing. Combined with her laundry list of character flaws – Nancy Grace is a disgusting human being and a first ballot Hall-of-Fame cunt.

  12. Nancy Grace was always a dyke. She never let anyone have an opinion, everyone was wrong. Fuck her. 🖕

  13. Nancy Grace was never "respected"."Barely tolerated" may even be an overstatement. She's a blithering idiot.

  14. I think Savannah Guthrie is one of the worst human beings on television. She veils her evil with a smile. Her treatment of Covington teen Nick Sandman was abhorrent.

  15. Nancy grace is , was one of the most depspicable performers . I won't call her a newsperson in the entire realm of people of her ilk. YOU COULD SEE WHEN SHE ATTACKED PEOPLE ON HER SHOW THAT she was a monster and was not at all trying to report the news just her own point of view. I could never understand how someone like her ever got to be in the position that she was in. Tom Brokaw was a major disappointment to me because I always thought he was a straight shooter but he obviously wasn't.. Geraldo Rivera has always been a slime bag reporter and should never be allowed on a legitimate news program. Just looking at him makes me want to barf. He is a disgusting flake !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. Did Nancy Grace escape from mental institution? I cannot believe how hateful this Nancy Grace is. She is so bitter. She is dead inside full of hate. It's shocking. She should be dragged to mental institution for life.

  17. I could strangle the life out of Nancy Grace and i would feel more guilt squashing a bug than killing that old fuckridden cunt.

  18. Never could stomach that fos self-righteous "thing" and I get the same feeling whenever I see or hear that trump idiot,.

  19. bill oreilly is a straight up ignorant disgusting conservative, far worse than any rape scandal or anything else, the lowest of low.

  20. I never liked Nancy Grace , but i agree that she shouldn't feel the least bit bad about that guilty woman killing herself.

  21. These are not journalists! JOURNALISM IS DEAD!!! BIASED NEWS IS FAKE NEWS!!! SORRY TO SAY!!!! TABLOID NEWS MAY BE MORE REVELANT!!! THE HALLMARK CHANNEL HAS HIGHER RATINGS THAN CNN. I sincerely hope that the Food Channel will surpass CNN next year!!! GO FOOD CHANNEL!!!!

  22. I have a great dislike for nancy grace.she is one of the grossest person to ever be on tv.i don't mean her looks or anything I pay attention to whats being said and by gross i mean too frkn much.I thought i'd clarify that. The woman cannot be responsible for what comes out of that head ,come on who in their right mind says those things?Who in their right mind behaves that way? Just saying.

  23. Nancy Grace was never respected and it was always a mystery why and how she got her own show on TV. I've often wondered what decisions were made by her as a prosecutor and how many lives she ruined by being the horrible person that she is. She won't be missed.

  24. None of these are shocking….You’re just stating the already revealed…..but I will confirm..Nancy Grace is literal trash…

  25. Nancy Grace is a liar and her made up shows are just made up, I will never watch that woman ever again,, she is a white racist supremacy and she acts like she hates black people,,

  26. Bill O'REILLY is another white racist supremacy and he and his executives put that satellite camera in my Televisions and talked about me everday,,,they OWE me money..

  27. Nancy Grace, I had never heard of her until programme hopping on you tube. She immediately made me feel uneasy. She shouts questions, she is aggressive, a bad example of journalism. Typical example of a female trying to be a men and succeeding only to bring all the bad qualities men have to offer

  28. Fame and money are a bad combination because they breed arrogance, something all of the people in this video have in common.

  29. I don’t know how Nancy Grace ever go a spot on TV. She is one of the most irritating people I have ever came across and that voice is like chalk on a blackboard.
