Plug and Readathon Announcement! [CC]

Plug and Readathon Announcement! [CC]

Hi, YouTube, it’s Kathy, and I’m here to announce
one of the two readathons I will be hosting in March. Yes, you heard that right. I co-created and will be hosting the Plug
and Readathon on March 10th through 16th. This readathon focuses on reading digitally,
so audiobooks, ebooks, and other things you might find online. My cohost is Zaquira from ZaqLovesBooks, and
I will obviously leave their link down below so you can go check them out. Additionally, what’s a readathon without Twitter
sprints? Of course, we have a Twitter, it’s @plugandreader. So I’ll leave that linked down below as well. Go ahead and give us a follow so you can keep
up to date. We wanted this to be pretty chill, so we came
up with 5 challenges that I think you guys are going to like. The first challenge is to check out whether
or not your local library has digital services. I’m fully aware that not everybody worldwide
has library access, nor do they have digital services at their library, but I want you
to find out whether or not you do. This is apps such as CloudLibrary, or Libby,
or Overdrive, or RBdigital. There are tons of different types of apps
that your library might have access to. And if so, go ahead and grab a book through
there; it’s free! Our second challenge is start a new to you,
or lesser known to you, genre. I give that caveat because I’m pretty sure
I’ve read most genres. Nothing’s really new to me. There’s just genres I read a lot less. Some of you might have an easy time picking
a book for this. Some of you, like me, might have a much harder
time picking for something like this, so because I’m not a monster, we wanted to leave this
one kind of open. Our third challenge is to read a popular book. Maybe this is something you’ve been highly
anticipating and just haven’t gotten to yet. Maybe this is something you’ve seen pop up
on several different channels and you’re like “maybe I should give this a try?” Whatever this means to you, try that one. Our fourth challenge is to reread an old fav. For example, if audiobooks are something that
work for you, try the audiobook of one of your favourite books. Or maybe you lost your copy but the library
has a digital version of it. Or maybe’s just something on your e-reader
that you really want to revisit. And number five, I think, is my favourite
challenge, which is to read a web comic. I used to read a lot of web comics while I
was in high school, but then I fell behind on them and never got back to them, and now
that I’m on BookTube, and I feel a pressure to read things I can track so that I have impressive
stats, things like web comics have fallen behind. And that’s it. Those are the challenges. Zaquira and I will have our TBRs up on the
first of March because we want to be closer to the readathon dates so we know we can get
something out of our libraries. If you are planning on participating, please
let me know about it down in the comments below, and if you do a TBR video, also let
me know about that below. On the way down to the comments, if you hit
that Subscribe button, that would be very nice of you. You can like and share this as you see fit,
and I will see you very soon. Bye! [outro music]

  1. Great initiative! ☺️ I love the idea of a readathon that makes you read more from your library and my most neglected kindle would appreciate the dusting.

  2. Sounds like fun! My library has Libby, overdrive, and hoopla. I use all three regularly. Excited to plan a TBR!

  3. I read a lot of webcomics! I recommend Gourmet Hound on webtoons! It's a very wholesome story about the love of food and it's surprisingly very lgbtq+ and multi cultural friendly in the scene that people are just simply very chill about anyone doing their own thing! And unlike many popular stories a will they won't they isn't the main focus of the story! :3

  4. I think I'll be able to combine both read-a-tons on March!! I might read a couple of books/series, gotta check my tbr to schedule everything :))

  5. Ooh! Webcomic suggestion! I think you might like. all kinds of rep, including ace. Plus fun, and can be rather informative 🙂

  6. Kathy you always have the BEST readathons, I'm definitely going to do this one. I'm going away in March and thought "maybe I'll just take my iPad and read Kindle books" so this is perfect!!!

  7. This, yes this I love. I love ebooks and audiobooks. Physical books have not been my jam in a very long time.

  8. This readathon sounds awesome! I have been loving ebooks lately, so I am going to try to participate (even though I'm a little late to the party 😂).
